Thursday, November 12, 2009

On Thursday we had a substitute teacher, so we didn't learn anything new. We worked on assigned work such as accelerated math and our student exercises. I was really having trouble with this unit until I found a website that explains the concept of logarithms and it gives you several example questions. Also if you are having trouble with things from the last units you can find all the previous topics on the website and they are explained fully. The website is http://www.brightstorm.com/. When you get to the site you just click on the math link then it will give you a list of topics, select pre-calculus, then a list of all the units we took or will be taking this year pops up. Then select a video.

Work Period

Today was early dismissal, so our math class was only 40 minutes long. Instead of learning something new, we were given time to work on our exercises that were previously assigned to us. There will be a homework check either tomorrow or Thursday on exercises 11-20, so make sure you get everything done! We should also be working on our Accelerated Math.

By the way, this week is Media Literacy Week!
Basically, its a week to promote the proper understanding and techniques of media education. You can learn more about it on this website: http://www.medialiteracyweek.ca

Everybody Loves a Work Block!

Today Mr. Max gave us the wonderful news that this block would be a catch-up block so that we can finish up our Exercises. Do your homework! Theres going to be a homework check at some point this week, and since it's randomized, it's better to have everything done. If every exercise is done, there's no chance you'll have the bad luck that the calculator will pick the ONE exercise you didn't do. Because thats how it always happens right?

So don't forget:
  • Homework Check this week from Exercises 11-19!
  • The test was moved to Thursday so study study study!
  • Go hit up tutoring on tuesday with Mr. Max and wednesday with Mrs. Larson if you have any questions or worries about the upcoming test!

Work Period

Today, as mentioned above, was a work period due to the fact Mr. Max was not here. We were given the opportunity to catch up on any homework given over the past couple weeks, finish up late assignments such as out charts or unit circles, or else continue working on our accelerated math. I am advising you, my class, to keep on top of your due exercises and especially accelerated math! There are a few ways to get free marks in this class, and you CANT afford not to get them. These free marks can account for a substantial amount of your final grade, and in some cases can even mean the difference between a pass and fail. So try you hardest on these sections of this course. Secondly, I would like to strongly advise that if you don’t understand the material as it is being taught, take a little time to stay after school and go to a tutoring session. In most cases you will learn more there than you would ever learn in one class. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain, and besides you cannot get less intelligent! I tell you this cause I am speaking from experience, and I only wish I would have known these things the first time around. I believe that if you do these things and try your hardest, this course will go smoothly for you and you will be satisfied with the results. There will be a test this Thursday, so be aware that we will be having our first homework check in the next few days!!
